Babenhausen is located in the administrative district of Darmstadt-Dieburg in the southern part of Hesse. The town has a population of approximately 17,000. The town consists of the districts of Babenhausen (centre), Harpertshausen, Harreshausen, Hergershausen, Langstadt and Sickenhofen.

The town has numerous educational institutions such as three primary schools, an integrated comprehensive school, a grammar school and a special school.

Babenhausen also has good transport connections. The B26 runs through the town and provides quick access to Aschaffenburg (approx. 18 kilometres) and Darmstadt (approx. 30 kilometres). Furthermore, the Deutsche Fachwerkstraße - the route linking Germany’s Medieval timber-framed houses - runs through Babenhausen.

The railway station in Babenhausen provides easy access to Mainz, Aschaffenburg and Darmstadt, amongst other places.

The largest employer in the town of Babenhausen is Continental. The automotive supplier employs more than 3,000 people in Babenhausen. Other important employers are Lässig GmbH (production company for products for families with children) and Schumann & Kardt GmbH & Co. KG from the sand and gravel extraction industry.

There are many historical buildings in the town. These include Babenhausen Palace, which dates from the 12th/13th century. The town mill, town walls and the market square together with the town hall provide a unique atmosphere.

With a distance of approx. 45 kilometres to the metropolitan region of Frankfurt, Babenhausen is located in the commuter belt of the financial powerhouse.

 

Micro-location

Dorfstraße 27 is located in the Harreshausen district of Babenhausen. Located near Hasselsee Lake, shopping facilities can be reached in less than eight minutes by car. The daycare centre is only about two kilometres away and can be reached by bicycle in five minutes. The schools of Babenhausen are located directly in the town and can be easily reached in less than ten minutes by bicycle.

Babenhausen market square with numerous restaurants, bistros, outlets catering for everyday needs as well as clothes shops is three kilometres away as the crow flies.

The A3 autobahn is only ten kilometres away and provides fast connections to the surrounding major cities.

Babenhausen's swimming pool is about three kilometres away.

A pharmacy, ice cream parlours, DIY stores, car dealerships, doctors and petrol stations can also be found in the town.

The excellent location is reinforced by the good connection to the railway station, which is less than three kilometres away.

The Witches Tower and Babenhausen Palace, which can be reached within ten minutes by bicycle, provide cultural diversity.

Babenhausen swimming pool, a skate park, various playgrounds and the 500-year-old common oak, which is a natural monument, offer a wide range of activities in the surrounding area. There are some great hiking trails with the oak tree at the centre.
