The town of Binz is located in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and has a population of about 6,400. Binz is the largest Baltic seaside resort on the island of Rügen and is known especially for its beautiful beaches, natural surroundings and magnificent spa architecture. The town is divided into the districts of Binz, Jagdschloss Granitz and Prora. The town has a large number of nationally known tourist attractions. These include Granitz Hunting Lodge dating from 1846, Granitz House dating from 1901, the neo-Gothic village church dating from 1913, Binz pier with a length of about 370 metres and the “Park of the Senses” spa gardens at Schmachter Lake. The town has another highlight to offer in the form of the five kilometre long sandy beach with a width of about 50 metres. The seafront promenade with restaurants and bars runs parallel to the beach and has a drawing power extending beyond the immediate region.

The economy of the town is mainly based on tourism. The numerous restaurants and hotels in the town benefit from this.

There are also various educational institutions in Binz such as a primary school, a secondary school and two daycare centres.

The Baltic seaside resort can be easily and flexibly reached via Ostseebad Binz railway station, the bus lines of Verkehrsgesellschaft Vorpommern-Rügen as well as a direct connection to state road L 29. The “Rasende Roland” narrow-gauge steam train also stops in Binz.

 

Micro-location

Klünderberg is located in the southeastern part of the town of Binz on Rügen. The distance to the south beach is about 600 metres, and it can be reached in less than ten minutes. Restaurants and bars are also less than a ten minute walk away. Adequate parking is available directly on the street. The town centre is only a ten minute walk away. Various outlets catering for everyday needs such as drugstores, a post office and supermarkets can be found in the town centre. The pharmacy, a hairdresser’s, the municipal administration and various bistros, cafés and restaurants are also no more than a 15 minute walk away.

The local recreation areas, the Park of the Senses and Schmachter Lake are 750 metres away. The narrow-gauge railway station is only 500 metres away.

The Spielplatz am Wald playground can be reached via a beautiful footpath in about twelve minutes.

The railway station is 1.5 kilometres away and can be easily reached by bicycle in eight minutes or on foot in twenty minutes.

The primary school is about three kilometres away from the site. Daycare centres are no more than two kilometres away.
